About
Δεφτέριν
Defterin, Cypriot Greek for notebook. It started out as an old Greek word for an animal hide to write on, then travelled through Aramaic, Arabic and Turkish before coming back to Cyprus. A word that knows a thing or two about being away from home felt right for these notes from abroad.
From a life in Berlin: what moves me, what’s worth fighting for, and what I can’t vote on. In whichever language I feel like that day: Cypriot Greek, English or German.
Entries are the longer pieces. Marginalia are the small ones: photos, links, notes.
